Sara Lee Macon, Ga. received the 2011 Business of the Year award for Litter Prevention from the Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Commission. The commission recognized Macon’s efforts in the Adopt a Spot program. Sara Lee, Werner and Ryder representatives maintain the cleanliness of the road outside the mixing center. Macon Green Team representatives, often partner with keep Macon-Bibb beautiful in ongoing projects to support our community.

 

American Meat Institute

The American Meat Institute (AMI) bestowed multiple awards to Sara Lee meat plants in 2012 for their exemplary safety records and management of environmental matters.

In April 2012, Forbes magazine released its ranking of “America’s Most Reputable Companies.” For the third year in a year, Sara Lee captured a spot on the list, coming in at No. 11.

Sara Lee was ranked 11th on Corporate Register's 100 Best Corporate Citizens List in 2012 - our fourth consecutive appearance on the list.

Sara Lee was recognized as being in the top 15% of the food producers sector in the SAM Sustainability Yearbook 2012. 

Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights is a Chicago, Ill. based nonprofit that advances the human rights and responds to the human needs of endangered populations by providing comprehensive services and promoting permanent solutions leading to a more just global society. On October 23, 2010, the occasion of Heartland Alliance's 70th anniversary gala, the Sara Lee Foundation was honored with the Award for Community Support, and the first award ever given by Heartland Alliance in its history.

Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) is a St. Charles, Ill. based nonprofit that provides 31.5 million pounds of nutritious food to 655 partner agencies in 13 counties, reaching an estimated 502,400 different people annually. At the end of fiscal 2011, NIFB honored Sara Lee Corporation with its Volunteer Corporation of the Year award, recognizing over 800 hours of volunteer service provided by Sara Lee employees, families and friends over the past year. Sara Lee and its employees have a long time commitment to volunteering with NIFB, since 2004 employees have volunteered to assemble its Holiday Meal Boxes and since 2006 Judy Schaefer, Director of Community Investment has served on its board.
