Sir Ian Prosser - Retired chairman, InterContinental Hotels Group plc, director since 2004
Sir Ian Prosser is retired chairman of InterContinental Hotels Group plc. He was elected a member of the board of directors of Sara Lee Corporation in 2004 and serves as chairman of the Finance Committee. He also serves on the Audit Committee.
He joined the precursors to the InterContinental Hotels Group (Six Continents plc and Bass plc) in 1969 and served in a variety of management positions including chief executive officer, group managing director and director of finance and planning.
Sir Ian is a non-executive member of the board of directors of GlaxoSmithKline plc and is non-executive Deputy Chairman of BP plc. He is chairman of JKX Oil & Gas plc, the Navy, Army & Air Force Institutes and the BP Pension Trustees Limited Board.
Sir Ian holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Birmingham University in England, from which he also received an honorary doctorate in 2001. Sir Ian was knighted in 1995.
