Jonathan P. Ward - Operating Partner, Kohlberg & Co., director since 2005

JonathanJonathan P. Ward is operating partner, Kohlberg & Co. since July, 2009. He was previously chairman of the Chicago office of Lazard Ltd. and managing director, Lazard Freres & Co., LLC. He was elected to the board of directors of Sara Lee Corporation in 2005 and is the chair of the Compensation and Employee Benefits Committee. He also serves on the Corporate Governance, Nominating and Policy Committee and the Executive Committee.

Prior to Lazard, he was at The ServiceMaster Company for five years, where he began as president and chief executive officer in 2001 and then became chairman and chief executive officer in 2002. From 1997 to 2001, Ward was president and chief operating officer of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, a commercial printing company. During his 23 years at R.R. Donnelley, he served in a variety of other leadership positions. He currently serves as a director of KAR Auction Services, Inc. and United Stationers, Inc.

Ward earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of New Hampshire and also has completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
