Who is responsible for my development?
At Sara Lee, you own your own personal and career development. At the same time, sharing your development needs and your career ambition will help your manager understand what your aspirations are and together, you can create a targeted development plan to help you get there.

Discuss with your manager the resources, development options, support or coaching you need to make your development actions happen and agree on how you will monitor and measure your progress.

Talent Review Process New Zealand
Sara Lee uses the Talent Review Process (TRP) to assess the capability of current talent to meet current and future business needs for purposes of:

  • Succession planning
  • Leadership development
  • Retention of high performers
  • Diversity

And the development and reinforcement of a high performance culture.
Building on individual performance review outcomes, TRP focuses on growth potential and career ambition of employees whilst looking at the bigger organizational picture of career opportunities to match business needs. The outcome is an opportunity to assess your experiences, skills, ambition and preferences to plan next career steps and your development plan towards them.

TRP Process
At three levels in the organization TRP meetings take place to calibrate the performance and potential assessment of employees; at country level, at functional level and at corporate level. The outcomes of these meetings are fed back to employees as part of their individual review process.

Based on their level and assessment, certain development actions are planned. For example, participation to Talent Development Programs in the Core Training Plan is based on the outcomes of TRP. TRP information is also used throughout the year to identify potential internal candidates for vacancies and projects.

Talent Development
Programs focused on accelerating the growth of our employees who have been identified as having the potential to move to the next management level within 1-3 years. A good example of our Talent Development Programs is our Management Development Centers which provide participants with extensive information about their individual performance and support them in creating a Personal Development Plan. This in turn helps them to reach their short and long term Career & Personal Development Goals.
