Christopher B. Begley - Retired executive chairman of the board of directors of Hospira, Inc., director since 2006
Christopher B. Begley was formerly executive chairman of the board of directors of Hospira, Inc., a global specialty pharmaceutical and medication delivery company. He was elected to the board of directors of Sara Lee Corporation in 2006 and serves on the Audit, Corporate Governance, Nominating and Policy Committees.
As the company’s founding CEO since Hospira was spun off from Abbott Laboratories in April 2004, he was named chairman of the board in May, 2007 to March 2011. Prior to Hospira, he was president of Abbott’s Hospital Products Division and was responsible for all divisional operations as well as establishing the future strategic direction for the business. Begley joined Abbott in 1986 and held positions of increasing responsibility that include senior vice president of chemical and agricultural products, vice president of AbbottHealthSystems and vice president of MediSense, Inc.
He currently serves as a director of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL), and AdvaMed. He is a member of the Commercial Club Foundation’s Civic Committee and CEOs Against Cancer.
Begley earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in business administration from Northern Illinois University.
